+1 – ”Spinal Inflation” means
1. Mainly referring to what the sutta passages call a straightened body, 🏃📐 ujuṃ kāyaṃ
When the suttas talk about a straightened body posture in meditation (sitting usually, but also applies to standing), what they mean in details, structurally, is this: 🏃📐 ujuṃ kāyaṃ
2. But for someone with high quality Jhāna, not just the spine but the entire body feels like it expands like a ballon with jhānic force.
+2 – ”Automatic Spinal Inflation” means
anytime you fulfill the physical portion of kāya passaddhi (bodily pacification awakening factor) that causes jhāna,
you feel your spine, parts or even the entire body inflate automatically like a balloon.
spine straightens naturally, even cracks itself
+3 – JASI, or ”Jhānic Automatic Spinal Inflation” means
Because one is skilled in kāya passaddhi (pacification of body),
the physical component of jhāna arises instantaneously,
on demand.
Your spine straightens naturally on it’s own initiative,
you don’t have to exert energy to force it into an arbitrary posture that is perceived by others as “erect,
straight, good posture, etc.”
Jhāna automatically expands your spine and body into an energetic,
light, comfortable, optimal form and structure,
provided all your energy channels are opened sufficiently.
If you’re injured, suboptimal, then there of course will be quirks and imperfections of JASI posture,
such as left and right asymmetry, shaking,
etc.
+4 – The “jhāna” in JASI means
Even for highly skilled jhāna meditators,
there will be times when the spine,
and some parts of the body don’t feel jhānic force expansion.
This could be for many legitimate reasons,
such as your jhāna battery is not fully charged,
immune system fighting minor diseases,
etc.
So don’t make the mistake that if you don’t feel your spine automatically inflate,
that you’ve lost your jhāna.
It’s perfectly natural for the jhanic force to not always inflate the entire spine or entire body all the time,
it’s constantly adjusting itself to your health and conditions,
just like some parts of the day even arahants will be sleepy and have lower energy and lower jhānic force.
